The story took place in 1948, where Easy Rawlings was
an airplane factory worker that was laid off. He being laid off put him in
jeopardy of losing his home that he was very proud of and worked very hard to
acquire and keep. Easy friend recommended him for a job which was to find a
young lady. While on the quest to find the women “Daphne Monet” one of his
friends from the factory “Carlotta” gets killed and he is accused of killing
her. Instead of him locating Daphne she located him and requested his help. Now
Easy finds himself in very odd situation. Needing help to figure out and get
out of this web of murders and deceit he contacted one of his friends from
Texas known as Mouse. As Easy began helping Daphne the plot thickened and seven
murders resulted from this tangled web of who is who and who killed who and
why.
I didn’t particularly care for book. It was well
written but too much going on and I had to re-read to follow completely. This
is the first of the Easy Rawlings series. It did not push me to want to read
any more.
